This is my set up for this year's archery and shotgun hunt. I'm hunting a pinch point where deer will use a narrow tract of cover to move from a feeding area across the road to the south, to the water hole or feeding area to the north. Also, there are numerous deer trails pointing into my tree stand position. I hope to intercept any deer moving along these trails. I'll be hunting all day, so I should have an opportunity or two within the three days (only three days) of my hunts in October and November. Any one else hunting pinch points?

The buck from last week traveled within the cover of the hardwoods and cedars right across my treestand (right above "tree stand" in the picture) on the other side of the fence. He made it right up to the intercepting fence but never gave me a shot... then he moved toward the field quartering away in the thicket. I fired at my first opportunity which was right about where the big tree hangs over the trail along the fence to the left of the word "FIELD"... nothing doing. Missed him.

I did plan to try aground blind somewhere else the next time I return, but I think I'll be back in this stand instead. Something tells me to keep at it.

BTW, the hot spot for deer travel - does and lots of them, was right around the pond. They would use this low area with some cover to travel from the swamp all the way at the top left to the field and cover to the right of the pond. But they were missed here as well. My brother is set up here and is hoping to make no mistakes next time we set foot there.

This proved to be a good spot after all. I'll be modifying the setup here next year, with some new travel routes opened up to get into the thick stuff. Also, got a couple of Moultrie 200s (good deal off a friend) and will be using them soon.

Yes I hunt 2 pinch points along with other spots. The one pinch is actually my yard as the house is surrounded with water making my driveway a main trail  this is where I take a doe for the freezer [the big bucks avoid the yard during legal light] so I try at another pinch out back for bucks.

So I did manage to tweak this setup a bit this year. I am now in a tree stand (no not as I write this Lol) in the wood lot above my original stand site. The deer that appeared every time I sat there came from in there... so i figured I had to be in there too. I set up about a hundred yards inside so I'm downwind of deer prowling the eastern edge of the woodlot.... also found acorns in there so my stand also sits above some trails I believe are main feeding trails. I hope to intercept a buck going to the acorns on an afternoon snack walk.
