I'm hunting opening day in Pefferlaw again this year and will be in the Port Severn/Waubaushene area in the first weekend of May... I'm excited and looking forward to getting this monkey off my back.

What about you guys? What's your plan?

I'm taking the 27th and 28th off work to put in the full effort to tag a gobbler. I have five locations to setup on but only one that is showing turkeys at this time.

Good luck to all.

I was out for the opener Monday and did not see or here any gobblers. Glassed one coyote and one hen . Checked all my spots and had one hen run across a trail in front of me and that was it. It was a really warm day and windy. The black flies are starting to fly around a bit now. I will hunt hard again today.

Was out on the opener and saw two toms that answered the calls but hung up out of range. I got a bunch of hens interested in my decoys last weekend  - could have reached out and touched them... the tom just wouldn't come in close enough and the boss hen eventually lured him away into the hardwoods... so nothing for me so far. I'll be trying it again this saturday. Good luck to you guys.

I was out on the opener and took a ice tom 22 lbs 6 oz. 3/4 inch spurs and a 10 1/2 inch beard.
Went out again a week later, silence in the bush no gobblers heard. About 8 am I did hear a hen and called her in but she didn't have a tom on tow. I'll try again next week

Nice tom Big Guy.

You are what you eat.  What would you rather be, a beast or a vegetable?

Nice long beard!!! Congrats.

I gave it another try last weekend on Saturday only to be skunked again. We got settled in at 5:30 (too late) and I started with some soft yelps and purrs to see if anything wold answer for my brother and I who had decided to hunt together. Well, he did answer, but I could hear him going further away, until we got sight of him an some hens far off, out in another pasture (private property we had no permission for), so I did the best we could to see if other turks in the area would answer, but nothing. We finally gave up when it started to pour.

I'll be back at it on my own tomorrow morning. Wish me luck!

Got set up in the dark. Lots of rain and some thunder and lightning. Waited and didn't call much... Saw three hens. One came in close, but no toms or jakes. Packed up when it got really bad, and that's it.

One more try next weekend.
