Just got back for the annual Catskills bowhunt with my hunting partner Theo. He had an awesome week taking three deer,, I on the other hand missed a slam dunk on a small buck and had a doe at 5 yards that never presented a shoot.

This year we have been experimenting with weight forward and heavier arrows combined with a single bevel broadhead .We both average 10 yard shots and limit our long shoots to 20 yards. Theo is shooting a 54 @ 29 Widow PMAX and a 1000g arrow (985g) , 350 carbon express heritage, 145 single bevel eclipse, 125 steel adaptor and 100g brass insert and 8 gpi weight tubes. (Theo is the designer and developer of the original Canadian Journeyman and helped the Eclipse boys with their tooling). Theo took this doe , pass through both sholders,, went 40 yards

He them took this nice Catskill buck, shot a little high and dropped him with a spine shoot:

He tried to put another arrow into the downed buck but he caught the leg as the deer lifted it as he shoot,, note incredable bone split:

Dr. Ashby thanks so much for your reseach in helping all bowhunters!!

1000g or 1000gr ?  an arrow that was 1000g would weigh 2.2 pounds, the trajectory would be terrible.smile/eek.gif
Congrats on your deer
