Ontario's elk program will received financial help from the MNR to be matched by the private sector in each of the four elk reintroduction areas : Bancroft/North Hastings; Lake of the Woods; Nipissing/French River; and Lake Huron North Shore. MNR funding must be matched by private donations for it to happen. They need to purchase more GPS/satellite collars for the elk. These tracking devices use to cost $10,000 each. They are now $3000 per collar.

The Ontario Federation of Agriculture has made a request to MNR to develop a controlled hunt to manage the elk herd in the North Hastings area. This is the one area where the elk have faired well. This would be a great hunting opportunity for me as my parents home is just south of the Hastings elk program.

That sounds great, I have always wanted to hunt Elk. So if it [the hunt] happens keep in mind I am available to carry your gun for you and  as soon as the Elk is down I will hand back your gun and commence to the field dressing I have a new hand skeet thrower that I now won't be able to use, still in the pack, it will be sent to them.
