To set the record straight about UV colour enhancers in camo/hunting clothing, I put the question to Mossy Oak Corp.

Hello I have a question about color brightners in hunting clothing. Many laundry products and dyes used in the manufacturing and care of hunting clothing contain colour brightners. Are Mossy Oak camo hunting garments UV treated ? thanks - Steve

Steven,
Thank you for your interest in Mossy Oak Brand Camo.  You are correct that many of the mainstream apparel garments and laundry detergents have brighteners in them.   However, Mossy Oak licensees normally do not use dyes with brighteners and our colors are soft earth tones that do not reflect light on natural fabrics.  With that said, please understand with the increase use of the man made fabrics such as polyester and nylon there is an inherit UV reflectant that is part of the fiber.   There is much debate on whether game animals really see this or not.  As Harold Knight of Knight and Hale Game calls told me one time “we will never know until deer can talk”.
There are also laundry detergents available that were developed especially for hunting garments to help eliminate scents and kill some of the brighteners.  Several companies market UV killers to cover up brighteners so you might try these on your garments .  As with any hunting situation, scent control, hunting the wind, hanging high in a tree or matching the camo to your location, it never hurts to cover all the bases.
Good Hunting,

The main point I read here is "hunt the wind" and stay out of the deers sight line aka, high in a tree or in a natural blind.  It has worked for me on some pretty nice bucks.

You are what you eat.  What would you rather be, a beast or a vegetable?

More than nice I would say great on at least two of those bucks.
